Pakistan Among Lowest-Ranked Passports Globally

Pakistan’s passport has been ranked 91st (tied with Somalia) globally, with an overall score of 33.5, according to the latest international passport index.

The ranking assesses passports using multiple factors, including travel access, taxation policies, global perception, dual citizenship rules, and personal freedom, rather than relying only on visa-free travel.

Pakistani passport holders currently have access to 45 destinations through visa-free entry, visa on arrival, or electronic travel authorization, giving Pakistan a travel score of 45, which accounts for 50 percent of the total ranking.

In taxation, Pakistan received a score of 20, indicating that citizens can relocate abroad to avoid domestic taxation. The country also scored 20 in global perception, reflecting moderate scrutiny faced by Pakistani travelers internationally.

Pakistan was awarded a dual citizenship score of 30, as citizens are allowed to hold multiple nationalities with certain restrictions. However, the country scored 20 for personal freedom, placing it in the lower tier globally.

Only North Korea, Iraq, Eritrea, Syria, and Afghanistan ranked below Pakistan in the index.
