PM Laptop Scheme Launched in Another Province

The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 has now been rolled out in another province, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) becoming the latest region to join the initiative.

Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the University of Haripur, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the initiative was “far more than handing out machines” and was instead part of a broader plan to create an environment in which students can excel, innovate, and compete globally.

The event was attended by government officials, student representatives, and beneficiaries of earlier phases of the scheme, which has already supported more than a million students nationwide.

Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan’s progress hinges on investing in its youth and ensuring that opportunities are distributed on merit across the country.

He recalled earlier efforts such as scholarship programmes, specialised agricultural training for students, and sending groups of young Pakistanis to China for advanced studies, arguing that real development requires every province and region to move forward together.

The prime minister paid special tribute to the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Hazara Division, praising their resilience in the face of terrorism and security challenges. He honored the sacrifices of police, law-enforcement agencies, and the armed forces, and also acknowledged the role of parents and teachers in guiding students to success.

Linking the laptop scheme to the wider economic picture, Shehbaz Sharif said the government had pulled the country back from the risk of default and now needed rapid growth built on modern skills.

He highlighted information technology, agriculture, and mineral resources as priority sectors and announced that student delegations from all provinces would be sent to China for training in artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge fields.

Responding to requests raised at the ceremony, the prime minister announced a Daanish School for Haripur with separate campuses for boys and girls, as well as a dedicated women’s campus for the University of Haripur. He also promised the construction of a bridge in Haripur to improve access to educational institutions and other facilities.
