Customs Seizes Smuggled Mobile Phones Worth Rs. 62 Million

Customs Enforcement Karachi has recovered 803 smuggled mobile phones worth Rs. 62 million after intercepting a Mazda truck during an intelligence-based operation, officials said on Wednesday.

According to a statement, the truck was stopped and searched, leading to the recovery of the undeclared mobile phones. The driver and helper were taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant laws.

Officials said the intercepted Mazda truck is valued at around Rs. 25 million, bringing the total value of the seizure to approximately Rs. 87 million.

Customs authorities said the successful operation reflects the commitment of the Federal Board of Revenue to curb smuggling and illicit trade across the country.

Further investigation into the smuggling network involved in the case is currently under way.
