As 2025 comes to an end, it is time to look forward to some of the biggest releases of 2026, including Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup, which is expected to come out in February with higher-than-ever price tags.
The Galaxy S26 series has reportedly gone through internal changes during development. Earlier rumors suggested Samsung might drop the Galaxy S26+ in favor of a slimmer “Edge” model, while other reports claimed the base Galaxy S26 could be rebranded as a Pro variant. Those plans now appear to be off the table.
Current information points to a familiar lineup once again consisting of the usual Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Rising Component Costs
While Samsung appears to have finalized the structure of the Galaxy S26 lineup, pricing remains unresolved. A new report from South Korean outlet The Bell, cited by SammyGuru, says Samsung is struggling to reduce costs due to continued increases in the prices of key components, including semiconductors.
The report adds that higher component prices, combined with intensifying competition, have also driven up labor and marketing expenses compared with previous years. As a result, Samsung is finding it difficult to settle on reasonable retail prices for the upcoming devices.
Margins vs Profit vs Demand Dilemma
Samsung is reportedly walking a fine line between maintaining profitability and keeping prices attractive for consumers. Raising prices could protect margins, but risk slowing demand, while holding prices steady would likely hurt profitability.
The situation is further complicated by reports that Samsung is selling its recently launched Galaxy Z TriFold at a loss. The company is said to be unwilling to take a similar approach with the Galaxy S26 series, which adds further pressure to pricing decisions.
The Galaxy S26 lineup is also expected to face a slight delay, with an announcement now anticipated in February. The delay is reportedly linked to the decision to retain the Galaxy S26+ model and ongoing uncertainty around pricing.
