Motorcyclists remained the leading violators of traffic laws across Punjab in 2025, according to data released by Punjab Traffic Police.
The statistics show that traffic police issued more than 6 million challans to motorcyclists across the province during the year. In Lahore alone, authorities issued more than 2.32 million challans to motorcycle riders.
A traffic police spokesperson said police issued over 2.16 million challans for riding motorcycles without a valid driving license. Authorities also fined more than 1.58 million riders for not wearing helmets.
Police issued over 314,000 challans for one-way violations and more than 400,000 challans for carrying more than two passengers on a motorcycle.
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir said motorcycles make up the largest share of registered vehicles in the province, making motorcyclists a key factor in overall traffic discipline.
He said traffic police recorded the most noticeable improvement in organized traffic behavior among motorcyclists during 2025.
According to the DIG, helmet use across Punjab increased by 88 percent during the year. He said this increase led to an 82 percent reduction in head injury cases. He added that authorities also observed clear improvement in lane discipline on roads across the province.

Dear DIG
Motorcyclist, rickshaws, loaders, chingchi don’t have front and back lights or indicators at night, most of them are overspending have accidents injuries to themselves and other
Police is very sluggish in taking action against them
I don’t know where lane discipline improved in Punjab. If you travel on three lane road, two lanes will be completely occupied by motorcycles and rickshaws, and one lane will also partially used by them. They feel insult when some car horn them from behind. Don’t check sides when changing lane. Always go into spaces at red signals and stop far ahead of zebra crossing at signals. Lot of improvement required in road discipline.
People of punjab use motorcycles as primary veh for transportation of their children and family.Their should be no Challan when bicker is moving with his wife and children. As our public transport system is not enough to cater for needs of public.
