The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board approved the allocation of land for model graveyards in the rural areas of Jabba and Pindorian in Islamabad.
The board also cleared the development of a dedicated website and web portal for the model graveyard project and approved facilities that will allow bereaved families, including overseas Pakistanis, to monitor graves remotely.
The board took these decisions during a meeting held on Tuesday and chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Senior CDA officials and board members attended the meeting.
The board approved the adoption of OGRA guidelines and government policy for LPG storage and filling plants in the federal capital. It also decided to form a committee to conduct a detailed review of proposed amendments to the ICT Building Control Regulations 2023.
The board approved amendments to the Islamabad Building Regulations 2023 to promote green infrastructure, rooftop and vertical gardening, and landscaping. The changes aim to encourage urban gardening and align construction practices with current requirements.
The CDA Board also approved the establishment of CDA-owned fuel filling stations through public-private partnerships or joint ventures. Chairman Randhawa directed officials to submit proposals to improve the exterior appearance of older buildings, particularly in the Blue Area, and to explore incentives for property owners who upgrade their façades.
The board approved upcoming residential and commercial plot auctions and authorized the hiring of consultants for third-party validation of the Islamabad High Court construction project.
