KP to Get a New Recreational and Tourist Spot

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs. 52 million for the renovation and beautification of Tanda Dam. The project aims to develop the site into a public-friendly leisure area and a modern recreational and tourist destination.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, said on Tuesday that the tendering process for the project had already been completed under previously sanctioned funds. He added that physical work on the site would begin shortly.

Once completed, Tanda Dam, popularly known as Lakeview Park, is expected to strengthen Kohat’s standing as a tourism destination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The project is also expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the socio-economic uplift of the region.

Officials said the beautification plan includes improved landscaping, public amenities, and facilities designed to encourage tourism. The initiative is in line with the provincial government’s focus on promoting leisure and eco-friendly tourism.

It is worth recalling that the project was announced twice during the tenures of former chief ministers Pervez Khattak and Mahmood Khan, but it did not move forward at the time.
