Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially acquired 100% shareholding of Telenor Pakistan (Private) Limited and Orion Towers (Private) Limited, marking a major consolidation in the country’s telecom sector.
According to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), PTCL confirmed that the shares of both companies have been duly transferred in its name, finalizing a transaction that has been disclosed in phases over the past two years.
The company stated that any further developments regarding the acquisition will be communicated to the exchange in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The acquisition is expected to reshape the competitive landscape of Pakistan’s telecommunications industry, bringing together PTCL’s extensive infrastructure and Telenor Pakistan’s significant market presence.
The transaction also includes Orion Towers, a key player in telecom tower infrastructure.

I hope now telenor users will get a speed bump due to huge spectrum available to them post merger. especially at peak hours in TIER-1 cities, where Telenors paltry 850Mhz clearly shows
PTCL is suffering from bandwidth capacity issues for the past few months, I wouldn’t hold my breath about expected speed improvements on either Telenor or Ufone in the near future.
I know but thats a separate issue from this.
all of these telcos (Jazz, Zong and Telenor) buy their Wholesale bandwidth from PTCL, but Jazz and Zong have superior speeds on average than telenor at same signal strength. that’s the spectrum starvation that Telenor faces in big Cities at peak hours.
I would like to ask when the Telenor–Ufone merger will practically start. When can users expect improvements in internet speed and overall network quality? I kindly request Mr. Zafar to please shed some light on this matter
These are regulatory approvals. Network consolidation will take time. Expect it to be completed within 6 months.

Dear I know it will take considerable time but any one knows how it will benefit ptcl users and ufone user like in village’s area specifically where only one network exist (tel/ufone). Pls describe if any effection will take….
