CCD Kills Underworld Gangster in Lahore

Lahore’s underworld figure, Faizan Boxer, was killed in a police encounter with the Punjab Crime Control Department (CCD) on Friday.

According to CCD officials, a team from the Kotwali unit was transporting Faizan from Lahore to Sheikhupura for identification purposes when the incident occurred in the Ichhra area.

Police claim that as the convoy moved through the locality, armed men believed to be Faizan’s associates opened fire on the vehicle in an attempt to break him free.

Officers say they returned fire, and a brief gun battle ensued. During the exchange, Faizan Boxer was fatally shot, with investigators maintaining that the bullets that killed him came from the attackers’ side. No member of the CCD escort party was reported injured.

Police sources state that Faizan Boxer was wanted in several serious criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and armed attacks, and was considered a key player in Lahore’s criminal underworld.

Friday’s incident mirrors an earlier case involving another high-profile suspect linked to organised crime. On October 11, 2025, Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, better known as Teefi Butt and the main accused in the Ameer Balaj murder case, was also killed in what authorities labelled an encounter with CCD personnel in Punjab.

Teefi Butt had been flown back to Pakistan from Dubai just a day before his death, after a prolonged extradition effort.

He was being taken by road to the CCD headquarters in Lahore when gunmen allegedly linked to his group attacked the police convoy near Kot Sabzal in Rahim Yar Khan district. Police at the time asserted that he, too, was struck by fire from his own accomplices during the shootout.

He had been nominated, along with Khawaja Aqeel alias Gogi Butt and several others, in a case registered over the targeted killing of Ameer Balaj near Thokar Niaz Beg in Lahore on February 19, 2024. Following the murder, Teefi Butt reportedly fled abroad and was later declared a proclaimed offender.

In 2024, Punjab Police approached the Ministry of Interior to seek his return, after which the ministry approved extradition proceedings, and Interpol red warrants were issued. Once arrested overseas, he was brought to Karachi via a private airline, transferred to Lahore, and handed over to a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) before being killed during the reported convoy attack.
