The final deadline for the declaration of parrots has been set as January 5, 2026, according to the Wildlife Department.
A Wildlife Department spokesperson said that no extension will be granted after January 5. The registration of Alexandrine parrots, rose-ringed parrots, grey-headed parrots and pink-headed parrots has been made mandatory.
The spokesperson added that more than 100,000 parrots have already been declared, noting that the deadline for parrot declaration had previously been extended twice.
The Wildlife Department warned that after January 5, fines and legal action will be taken against owners of unregistered parrots, stressing that no leniency will be shown once the deadline expires.
