Around 30 Embassies Have Reportedly Occupied State Land in Islamabad

The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has decided to formally inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about encroachments by several embassies and international organizations in the Diplomatic Enclave, according to Dawn News.

An MCI official said a recent survey revealed that around 30 embassies, foreign missions, and international organizations have encroached on state land or are using areas beyond their approved limits in Sector G-5.

The official said the survey findings would be shared with the Foreign Office, which would then take up the matter with the concerned embassies in line with diplomatic protocol.

According to the survey, most of the identified missions are using green belts for parking, while several have constructed small rooms on state land for various purposes.

The embassies will be asked either to remove the encroachments or regularize them through formal approval, where permissible. MCI officials said no direct action could be taken without the involvement of the Foreign Office.
