A 20-year-old Pakistani student from Balochistan has won the “Progress Star” award at Northeast Normal University (NENU), China, for his outstanding academic performance.
Sanaullah, who belongs to Musakhel district in Balochistan, received the award from the university’s Preparatory School for Overseas Students on July 1. He was recognized for his hard work and dedication during his Chinese language studies at NENU from September 2025 to July 2026.
NENU is among the leading institutions in China for Chinese language education. It is the first institution in Northeast China authorized to administer the national HSK test and is also among the first to offer the Business Chinese Test. Sanaullah has already passed HSK4, showing his readiness to continue academic studies in Chinese.
“Our curriculum is comprehensive, improving all skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing,” Sanaullah said while sharing his learning experience.
Along with classroom learning, the university also provided an immersive cultural environment through calligraphy competitions, recitation contests, singing competitions, traditional Chinese cultural activities, and visits to historical sites. Sanaullah said these activities helped him practice Chinese in real life and increased his understanding and appreciation of China.
He is set to begin undergraduate studies in Computer Science at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in September. The university is known for its strong programs in marine engineering and computer science.
“I want to work for space missions in the future,” Sanaullah said, adding that his areas of interest include machine learning, robotics, and cybersecurity.
He also highlighted that youth from Balochistan and other underserved regions have great potential to contribute to the growing digital transformation in Pakistan and across the world.
