FBR Reconstitutes Committee for Granting/Canceling Sales Tax Integration Licences

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has once again reconstituted the committee to evaluate applications for the grant of licences for the integration of registered persons under the Sales Tax Rules, 2006.

In this regard, the FBR issued a notification on Monday.

According to the notification, the FBR has superseded Notification (IR-Ops)/2025-R dated June 16, 2025.

In the exercise of powers conferred under the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and the Income Tax Rules, 2002, the FBR has reconstituted the committee to evaluate applications for the grant of licences for the integration of registered persons under the Sales Tax Rules, 2006.

The committee shall comprise the following members: Zain-ul-Abidin Sahi, Director General (IT & DT), as Chairman of the committee; Arshad Nawaz Chheena, Chief (Revenue-Operations), as Member; Aamar Javed, Chief (Systems), as Member/Secretary of the committee; Ali Abbas, Special Assistant to Member Policy, as Member; Abid Naeem, Chief Information Officer, PRAL, as Member; and Mehboob-ur-Rehman, Senior Manager (Development), PRAL, as Member.

The terms of reference (ToRs) of the committee shall be as follows:

  1. To scrutinize documents and evaluate the eligibility of applicants for new registration.
  2. To scrutinize additional documents required under the new rules in cases where registration has already been granted.
  3.  To prepare requests for proposals (RFPs) in accordance with the new rules and scope.
  4. To evaluate complaints and make recommendations to the Board for the cancellation of licences.

The notification has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and supersedes all previously issued notifications in this regard, the FBR added.
