The agreement focuses on enhancing cyber threat detection, mitigation, and prevention through coordinated collaboration. As part of the partnership, PKCERT and Kaspersky will work to improve cyber resilience by conducting training and awareness programs aimed at strengthening operational readiness across government institutions, industry, academia, and civil society.

Under the MoU, PKCERT and Kaspersky will cooperate in multiple cybersecurity areas, including legislative and regulatory matters, incident detection and response, prevention and mitigation strategies, cybersecurity education, research and development, and professional exchanges. The two sides will exchange technical information, threat intelligence, and data feeds related to cyber threats and cyberattacks affecting citizens, businesses, and government institutions in Pakistan.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, Director General of National CERT, Government of Pakistan, and Rashed Al Momani, General Manager for the Middle East and Pakistan at Kaspersky. The signing took place in the presence of Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky, and Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal IT Minister, Government of Pakistan.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Haider Abbas said that while information and communication technologies play a vital role in socio-economic development, they have also introduced challenges such as cyber espionage, ransomware, data breaches, attacks on critical infrastructure, financial disruptions, and disinformation campaigns. He said the collaboration with Kaspersky represents an important step toward strengthening national cybersecurity.

Rashed Al Momani said that secure digital development depends on strong partnerships between public authorities and private companies. He noted that Kaspersky has a long history of working with international and regional organizations and computer emergency response teams worldwide, adding that the cooperation with PKCERT is an important step toward supporting Pakistan’s secure digital transformation.
