Construction work has officially started on Lahore’s first floating restaurant project along the Lahore Canal, bringing welcome news for residents and visitors to the city.
The project is scheduled for completion by June of the ongoing financial year. To facilitate the initiative, authorities are increasing the canal’s depth from 7 feet to 13 feet and widening it to 30 feet.
The construction is being carried out by HRD, with NESPAK appointed as the project’s consultant, while the Irrigation Department is also involved in overseeing technical aspects.
Officials from the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) said the plan includes a three-storey, state-of-the-art floating restaurant that will serve as a new recreational attraction along the canal.
The floating restaurant will be able to accommodate around 80 diners at a time and is designed to combine tourism with premium dining.
PHA Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed stated that the project is expected to add to Lahore’s visual appeal and boost its tourism profile. He confirmed that the estimated cost of the project stands at approximately Rs. 4.9 billion.

Do you call it a major development ? 🙏
