Private Schools in Several Areas Reopen Despite Winter Break

Several private schools in Rawalpindi have reportedly resumed classes despite the ongoing winter vacations across Punjab, prompting concerns among parents and raising questions over enforcement by education authorities.

Parents said the provincial government had announced winter vacations for all public and private educational institutions until January 10. However, they alleged that a number of private schools reopened during the ongoing cold wave, in violation of the notified schedule.

According to parents, school administrations have ignored official directives in the past as well, and education department notifications have failed to ensure compliance. They said reopening schools during severe weather conditions posed risks to children’s health.

Reports of private schools operating during the winter break have surfaced from several areas of the city, including Dhok Syedan, Dheri Hassanabad, Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, and other localities.

Parents said neither the district administration nor senior officials of the education department appeared to be taking notice of the situation. They urged the authorities to take action against institutions violating government orders and ensure strict implementation of the winter vacation policy across the city.
