Pakistan Faced Over 50 Critical Cybersecurity Flaws on a National Scale: NCERT

The National Computer Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) issued 53 cybersecurity advisories in 2025, warning users and organizations about critical vulnerabilities and emerging cyber threats.

The advisories covered both technical and awareness areas and were aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s cybersecurity posture and reducing the risk of cyber incidents across digital platforms.

According to the details, the advisories included alerts on critical software and hardware vulnerabilities. These covered issues such as remote code execution flaws in widely used applications, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Windows systems. Enterprise products from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, and SAP were also highlighted. In addition to technical alerts, PKCERT issued several threat awareness advisories focused on social engineering, phishing, and credential compromise. Some advisories warned users about fraudulent campaigns impersonating PKCERT, while others highlighted risks related to social media misuse, large-scale credential breaches, and misinformation campaigns. These advisories were intended to improve cyber hygiene and protect individuals and organizations from evolving digital threats.

In comparison, PKCERT issued 23 advisories in 2024, addressing similar areas. These included critical vulnerabilities in software and enterprise systems, phishing and social engineering campaigns, and awareness advisories on the safe use of digital platforms. The 2024 advisories reflected a proactive cybersecurity approach that focused on both technical vulnerabilities and human-centric risks.

In 2023, around 64 advisories were issued by PKCERT and related cybersecurity units. These advisories mainly focused on malware, zero-day vulnerabilities, phishing, and credential theft, along with public awareness alerts on social media threats and cyber hygiene.

Overall, the advisories issued between 2023 and 2025 show a consistent effort by PKCERT to monitor cyber threats, alert users, and strengthen Pakistan’s national cybersecurity infrastructure.
