Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has warned of strict action against private schools found operating during the ongoing winter vacations, saying violations of government orders will not be tolerated.
In a statement, the minister said the Education Department will take action against private schools that remain open during the officially notified vacation period.
He added that the government will also proceed against the concerned Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Education in districts where complaints about schools reopening are received.
The warning comes amid confusion across Punjab after claims on social media suggested possible changes to the winter vacation schedule for educational institutions.
A few days earlier, Rana Sikandar Hayat had clarified that the Punjab government would not extend winter vacations and that all schools and colleges across the province would reopen on January 12, 2026. He rejected reports circulating online about any proposal to prolong the holidays and described them as false and misleading.
The education minister urged parents, students, and teachers to rely only on official announcements and avoid sharing unverified information related to school and college schedules.
