Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited several rest areas along the Lahore–Islamabad Motorway (M2) to inspect facilities and interact with travelers.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the condition of rest houses and shops at different service areas and spoke with passengers present at the sites. He instructed the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) to prepare a joint plan within 15 days to improve motorway facilities.
According to the minister’s directions, the plan will include expansion of rest areas, a uniform layout for shops, and the provision of food and beverages at fixed prices for travelers.
Abdul Aleem Khan also directed the concerned authorities to compile data on the daily number of vehicles using the M2. The data will be used for planning future expansions and managing traffic at rest areas.
During the inspection at the Bhera Rest Area, overseas Pakistanis met the minister and expressed appreciation for the facilities available on the motorway.
The minister emphasized that rest areas should be properly maintained and visually organized. He said that standardized shop layouts and improved rest areas would help provide better facilities for motorway users.

All focus is always on islamabad and lahore there is no place on multan faislabad motorway where a person can have a decent meal. The mosques are just a room with for walls without a roof. Please focus on other areas.
M2 motorway already has state of the art mosques restrooms and brands please focus on other areas.
On these rest areas few rest house or hotel s,where Drivers can nap for a while,if he feels exhausted.
Food is very expensive on these rest areas.So, reduce it for common poor travelers.
