The Government of Japan has announced the MEXT Teachers Training Scholarship for 2026 for Pakistani teachers interested in conducting research in school education in Japan.
Under the scholarship, selected candidates will undertake a non-degree teachers’ training and research program at a Japanese university. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. The program does not lead to bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees and is strictly intended for professional training and research in school education.
The scholarship is offered by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). According to the announcement, the program generally begins in October, and Japanese language training is provided before the start of academic activities, as many courses and research guidance are conducted in Japanese.
To be eligible, applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991, hold a university or teacher-training qualification, and have at least five years of teaching experience at the primary or secondary level, or at a teacher training institution, by October 1, 2026. University faculty members are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must also demonstrate the intellectual and psychological ability to live and study in a foreign cultural environment for approximately 18 months and show willingness to learn the Japanese language.
The last date to submit applications is February 12, 2026. Detailed information and application guidelines are available on the official website of the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan.
