Vivo has expanded its budget smartphone lineup in China with the launch of two new 5G models, the Y50s 5G and the Y50e 5G. The two phones share the same design and most core specifications, with differences limited mainly to charging speed and storage type. Both devices are now available for purchase in the Chinese market.
The vivo Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G feature identical designs. Both phones come with a 6.74-inch flat LCD offering HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits.
The devices measure 8.19mm in thickness and weigh 204 grams. They carry an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Color options include Diamond, Platinum, and Sky Blue.
Both smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset and support 5G connectivity. Additional features include dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phones run Android 15 with OriginOS 5 on top.
The key internal difference lies in storage technology. The vivo Y50s uses faster UFS 2.2 storage, while the vivo Y50e relies on eMMC 5.1 storage.
On the rear, both models feature a single 13MP camera paired with an infrared sensor and LED flash. The camera module also includes a breathing ring light.
For selfies and video calls, the phones are equipped with a 5MP front-facing camera housed in a waterdrop notch.
Both the vivo Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G pack large 6,000mAh batteries. Charging speeds differ between the two models. The Y50s supports 44W fast charging, while the Y50e is limited to 15W charging.
Pricing for the Vivo Y50s 5G starts at $260 for the 6GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 8GB/256GB version is priced at $285, while the 12GB/256GB model costs $330. The vivo Y50e 5G is available in a single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration, priced at $215. Both devices are now on sale in China.
