Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered the establishment of a network of stroke centers across the province to ensure timely treatment for paralysis patients, according to 24NewsHD.
The decision was taken during a special meeting chaired by the chief minister on Thursday.
Under the stroke management program, patients suffering from paralysis will be shifted to hospitals within four hours of the attack to prevent lifelong disability and reduce fatalities.
The plan includes appointing neurologists and pediatric neurologists at stroke centers in all district hospitals.
The chief minister also directed authorities to ensure round-the-clock availability of CT scan machines and to train physicians in stroke management, including the administration of TPA and TNA injections.
CM Maryam Nawaz approved the purchase of TPA injections and ordered the phased establishment of stroke centers across the province.
In the first phase, centers will be set up in 30 districts, followed by 15 districts in the second phase, and the remaining 24 districts in the final phase.
The meeting also decided to temporarily introduce the stroke management program at the Institute of Cardiology.
Additionally, the government will launch a public awareness campaign to educate citizens about the symptoms of paralysis and the importance of seeking immediate medical help.
