Karachi-Dhaka Flight Tickets Sold Out in Just Hours

Tickets for Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ newly announced Karachi–Dhaka direct flight tickets sold out within hours of going on sale this week.

Bangladesh’s national carrier confirmed on Thursday that it will restart direct flights between the two cities, with the first service scheduled for January 29. The airline plans to operate the route twice a week, restoring regular non-stop travel that has been absent since 2012.

Biman manager Bosra Islam told AFP that the airline is relaunching the Karachi–Dhaka connection with two weekly flights. In a statement, the carrier said direct operations would improve links between Bangladesh and Pakistan and make travel easier for business visitors, tourists, and families.

For years, passengers traveling between the two countries have largely relied on connecting flights through Gulf transit points such as Dubai and Doha.

The strong response to ticket sales comes as broader contacts between Dhaka and Islamabad show signs of improvement.

Cargo shipping between Karachi and Bangladesh’s main port in Chittagong resumed in November 2024, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, last month said he hoped direct flights would begin in January during a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

Relations between the two countries had been strained during the tenure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, but officials say ties have warmed following her ouster and exile.

Recent visits and engagements have included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s trip to Dhaka in August 2025 and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s visit in December.
