The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has completed preparatory work for issuing newly designed Pakistani Rupee (PKR) currency notes and is awaiting approval from the federal cabinet to proceed.
According to the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation (PSPC), the new notes will feature modern and enhanced security features. The final designs have yet to be formally received for printing, reported a news daily.
Once cabinet approval is given, the printing process will take at least two months.
Senior Manager Printing Amir Shams said consultations have been held between the SBP and PSPC regarding the printing of the new currency. He said the central bank is still considering whether the new designs will be issued in phases or whether notes of all denominations will be introduced simultaneously. SBP will announce its official printing schedule later this year.
If the cabinet approves, the new currency notes will most likely be released later this year.

However, this upgrade can actually be seen as a real upgrade in today’s world. It will help remove fake notes in circulation and make it much harder to create.
Polymer notes are also more durable, so they get damaged less easily and last longer.

New currency notes will help to eradicate the fake notes which are dangerous for economy. However,new currency must be having features difficult to be copied/imitated.

Currency paper used is not okay. New currency should be printed on like currency of Australian or Canadian dollars type.

The SBP should transit to digital currencies directly just as implemented in China. Why waste resources on printing money?
I don’t know why people are saying the notes should remain the same. I was waiting for if for the longest time. The only one I like under current denominations is the 500 rupee note. Red and orange notes look awful. They should either be green, blue, purple, or colorful.
Take off 2 zeros from all notes. That is 5000 rs note will become 50 rs note. 100 rs note will become 1re note, and then reintroduce 50 paisa,25, 10 paisa.
Similarly, salaries, prices and exchange rate should adjusted therewith. Fir example 100,000 salary will become 1000 rs per month, cup of tea where it is 250 rs will become 2.5 rs and USD will be 2.8 rs per dollar so on and so forth. This will slow inflation and limit the flow of currency notes
