The Sindh government has started reviewing the current e-challan fine structure, with a proposal to reduce penalties by half, sources said.
According to the sources, authorities are considering cutting the e-challan fine for motorcycles from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 2,500. The proposal also includes a 50 percent reduction in e-challan fines for vehicles with engine capacity of up to 1,000cc.
Sources said a special committee will make the final decision in a meeting scheduled for next week under the chairmanship of the Sindh home minister. After the committee’s approval, the government will issue a formal notification.
Officials said the special committee began reviewing e-challan penalties after its meeting on December 23, during which members sought recommendations on fine rates and enforcement measures.
