Pakistani Fast Bowler Proves Why He’s The Best Death Bowler in BBL

Pakistani fast bowler Zaman Khan once again showcased his nerves of steel and pinpoint accuracy, producing a stunning final-over performance to seal a dramatic three-run win for Brisbane Heat against Hobart Hurricanes in Match 35 of the 2025/26 Big Bash League (BBL 15).

Defending a total of 160 for 8, Heat looked under pressure for most of the chase as Hobart cruised to 155 for 7, needing just six runs off the final over with wickets in hand. Zaman Khan, who had conceded 27 runs in his first three overs, was handed the ball for the last six deliveries,  and what followed left fans and pundits in disbelief.

Shaheen Afridi’s replacement began the over with a dot ball, nailing a low full toss straight back to the batter. He followed it up with another dot, applying immediate pressure. Hobart managed a single off the third ball, but the tension peaked when Zaman fired in a perfect yorker that Chaudhary failed to connect with, resulting in another dot.

The turning point came on the fifth delivery. Zaman bowled a clever slower ball outside off, tempting Chaudhary into a big shot. The batter miscued it, and Michael Neser safely held on to the catch just inside the boundary at long-on. Suddenly, Hobart needed four off the final ball.

Zaman stayed calm and delivered a full, wide yorker. Rishad Hossain could only manage a single, sparking wild celebrations among the Heat players as they pulled off an extraordinary win, restricting Hobart to 157 for 8.

The feat was historic. According to cricket statisticians, Zaman Khan’s defense of six runs is the fewest ever successfully defended in the final over of a BBL match, surpassing the previous record of seven runs.

Teammate Xavier Bartlett praised Zaman’s composure, saying his ability to back his yorkers under pressure was simply remarkable. “Everyone knew what he was going to bowl, and he still nailed it six out of six,” Bartlett said.

Fans from Pakistan were quick to recall Zaman’s heroics in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has pulled off similar miracles for Lahore Qalandars. Social media lit up with praise, with many calling him a specialist in last-over dramas.

With this win, Brisbane Heat climbed to fourth on the points table, keeping their playoff hopes alive. More importantly, Zaman Khan once again proved that when it comes to bowling under extreme pressure, few can match his skill, temperament, and execution.
