The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) women’s kabaddi team was honored at the Government City Girls’ Degree College, Gulbahar, for winning a bronze medal at the 35th National Games.
The event was organized to recognize the team’s national-level achievement and to encourage students to take an active interest in sports.
Professor Rabia Sikander, the principal of the college, attended the event as the chief guest. She was joined by Naseer Khan, president of the Provincial Kabaddi Association; Sultan Bary, its secretary; Arshad Hussain, secretary of the Provincial Throwball Association; Director of Sports Najma Naz Qazi; and a large number of students.
The medal-winning players were presented with specially designed shields and medals in recognition of their performance at the National Games.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Sikander praised the KP women’s kabaddi players for their courage, skill, and sportsmanship.
She said the team’s success against strong departmental and provincial teams was a source of pride for the province and showed that women athletes from KP are highly capable.
She added that with better facilities, continued coaching, and institutional support, the team has the potential to win gold medals in future competitions.
She further emphasized that participation in sports helps build confidence, discipline, and leadership skills, and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to supporting students in both academics and athletics.
Director of Sports Najma Naz Qazi said it was a matter of pride that most players on the KP women’s kabaddi team are students of Government City Girls’ Degree College.
She noted that student interest in sports is increasing and said the college administration is taking concrete steps to promote athletic activities.
Representatives of the Provincial Kabaddi Association and the Provincial Throwball Association also addressed the ceremony. They praised the athletes achievements and called for continued support for women’s sports in the province.
