Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed the immediate development of a robust performance evaluation system for federal secretaries.
While chairing a meeting on proposed civil service reforms, the prime minister said it was critical to align Pakistan’s bureaucracy with international standards.
He emphasised that rewarding high-performing officers is critical to supporting the civil service and driving improvements across ministries. The proposed reforms will place strong emphasis on performance-based evaluations.
The prime minister said the reforms are aimed at modernizing the civil service and improving the quality of public service delivery, with a direct impact on economic stability and social development. He instructed officers to prepare recommendations swiftly.
The reform package will include proposals related to promotions, financial incentives and other rewards tied to performance assessments.
Shehbaz further directed that the recommendations should be actionable and focused on delivering visible improvements in governance and public services.
