The Punjab government has clarified the school reopening schedule after extending winter vacations by one week due to severe cold weather, ending uncertainty among students and parents.
Punjab Education Minister Sikandar Hayat said that all public and private schools across the province will reopen on January 19. He confirmed that the government will not extend winter vacations any further.
The minister said winter holidays began on December 20 and that students were granted a total of 30 days off during the season. He added that students have already availed 27 of those holidays and will return to schools as scheduled once the remaining days conclude.
He stated that the education department will proceed with the academic calendar without any additional changes and urged parents and students to prepare for the resumption of classes.
Authorities had earlier extended winter vacations after a prolonged cold spell affected several parts of Punjab. The extension led to widespread speculation about a possible further delay in reopening schools.
The education minister’s statement has now removed the uncertainty, confirming that schools will reopen on January 19 with no change to the announced schedule.

Yes bcz of the extremely cold weather it was never happen that much cold in January so kindly colleges and school especially FEDRAL schools should remain close till 5 th Feb and , FEDRAL wale bacho KO to 12 January se school bula rage hai bacho KO chuttian ni Di hai bachy bimaar ho rahe hai
It should be understood that weather patterns have been affected by climate change, resulting in extended or delayed conditions. Initially, holidays should not have been scheduled for December 22 instead, they should have commenced after the New Year. Therefore, avoid further errors by opening during this severe winter, as it may have detrimental consequences, causing hardship for children. Make decisions carefully and thoughtfully.
Education in Punjab has become a joke. Early closures in summers because of heat, delayed opening because of heat and now delayed opening because of the cold. Clearly education is not a priority. Maybe the education minister is trying to make sure our kids are as jaahil as him by missing school
exactly its going on as per planning to make new kids illiterate
Please extend holiday because it’s too foggy and cold outside
Waisay hi jahil qaum hai upar sey Kabhi shadeed sardi aur Kabhi shadeed garmi. Kam az Kam jab bachay school jatay Hain to andar to rehtay Hain. Waisay poora poora din galion mai awara kutton ki Tarah phirtay rehtay Hain, Woh theek hai. Bakwas
Actually hum sardi se bach sakte hain phr bhe lekin fog se nhi itni fog ma bachon ko school bhjna khatre se Khali nhi hota or agar weather aisa he fog rha to school nhi open krne chahiye
Its not to make kids illiterate, wrong strategies
As there is a climate change, seasons are shifting, they must follow the weather not the calender..instead of december, holidays must start frm 1st of January till 25th of January, weather in dec is still bearable..if they may think
