Most Fixed Broadband Internet Providers Pass Latest PTA Survey

Most fixed broadband operators in Pakistan met regulatory quality standards during the fourth quarter of 2025, according to a new survey released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, indicating broadly stable internet service across major cities.

The Fixed Broadband Quality of Service Survey assessed 50 broadband service providers in 29 cities under the Fixed Broadband QoS Regulations, 2022.

The evaluation focused on key performance indicators including network availability, latency, bandwidth utilisation, jitter and data throughput.

According to the report, operators in large urban centres such as Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Faisalabad largely complied with benchmarks for network reliability and data throughput. Several service providers recorded 100 percent compliance in their respective service areas during the review period.

The survey was conducted between October 1 and December 20, 2025, and while overall compliance remained strong, the regulator identified performance gaps in certain networks. Network availability at core and access nodes fell below required thresholds for operators, including Classic Broadband, Net Cloud Telecom and Khan Telecommunications.

PTA also observed higher-than-allowed latency on both domestic and international routes for some operators, pointing to routing inefficiencies and capacity constraints. In addition, congestion during peak usage hours was noted for select providers due to high bandwidth utilisation.

Instances of elevated jitter, which can disrupt real-time services such as video calls and online gaming, were recorded for a limited number of operators. However, the authority noted that all surveyed operators met the minimum download and upload throughput requirements set by the regulator.

Following the findings, PTA has instructed non-compliant operators to undertake corrective measures, including network optimisation and capacity upgrades.

The authority said it will continue regular monitoring and enforcement actions to ensure sustained service quality and safeguard consumer interests in Pakistan’s fixed broadband market.
