The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Thursday cleared four development schemes with a combined cost exceeding Rs. 11 billion and approved two position papers.
The approvals came during the PDWP’s 59th meeting, chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Dr Naeem Rauf. The working party sanctioned a Rs. 2.5 billion project to revamp old blocks of the Punjab Institute of Mental Health in Lahore.
It also approved the purchase of a linear accelerator for Allied Hospital Faisalabad at an estimated cost of Rs. 677 million. Another scheme approved by the PDWP involves enhancing the capacity and extending distributaries and minors to feed the Defence Ditches, with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.502 billion.
In addition, the working party cleared a Rs6 billion project aimed at improving canal conveyance and operational efficiency through the lining of priority canals. Alongside the development schemes, the PDWP approved two position papers.
One relates to strengthening the Higher Education Department secretariat and providing an ERP system for colleges, including the creation of posts and procurement of vehicles. The second concerns the grant of an incentive allowance for M Arslan Rafi and Huain Arshad (LG).
The meeting was attended by Planning and Development Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, board members, and officials from relevant departments.
