The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has confirmed Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad as a new venue for PSL 11, making it the fifth city set to host matches in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
The update was finalized during a PSL Governing Council meeting at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, chaired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and attended by representatives of all eight franchises and senior PCB/PSL officials.
In the meeting, the Governing Council also confirmed March 26 as the start date for PSL 11 with continued discussions on player retentions and a proposed hybrid draft/auction model.
Faisalabad’s inclusion also aligns with chatter around franchise planning, particularly regarding Sialkot’s new PSL side. Earlier reports suggested the team was exploring a “home away from home” setup, and that Iqbal Stadium could host its home fixtures, though the franchise has not issued a final confirmation on that specific arrangement.
The idea gained traction after franchise owner Hamza Majeed indicated Faisalabad holds personal significance as a second home base. It also matches the PCB’s earlier direction: Mohsin Naqvi had previously said Iqbal Stadium would host PSL matches next year, even before the new franchise auction concluded.
Meanwhile, Sialkot is still expected to pursue long-term plans in its own city. Jinnah Stadium is reportedly in line for a major upgrade following Sialkot’s entry into the league, but if timelines run long, Faisalabad offers a ready venue with recent experience hosting top-level cricket.
Iqbal Stadium, formerly known as Lyallpur Stadium, is one of Pakistan’s historic grounds and recently returned to ODI hosting duties in November 2025, when it staged a three-match series against South Africa, drawing strong crowds and a lively atmosphere.
