Pakistan to Reconsider T20 World Cup Participation if Bangladesh Issue is Not Resolved

Pakistan could reconsider its participation in the ICC Men’s 2026 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and India if the issue linked to Bangladesh’s stance on not sending its cricket team to India remains unresolved, according to government sources.

Sources said the Bangladeshi government has contacted Pakistani authorities over the matter, seeking support as the situation continues to develop. In response, Pakistani officials reportedly assured Dhaka of full backing, stressing that Bangladesh’s concerns are “reasonable and valid” and should be addressed.

The same sources claimed that if Bangladesh’s issue is not resolved, Pakistan will review its own decision regarding taking part in the T20 World Cup.

Officials were quoted as saying that no country should be allowed to intimidate or pressure another, and that Bangladesh’s position should be handled through proper channels, based on its stated reasons.

Bangladesh, meanwhile, has reportedly maintained its stance that it will not send a team to India for the T20 World Cup, as the debate continues.

In a related development that has added fuel to the broader discussion around tensions at ICC events, criticism also surfaced after a reported incident at the U19 World Cup, where the Indian U19 captain allegedly did not shake hands with the Bangladeshi captain, sparking renewed backlash online.
