Apple is planning to introduce advanced LTPO+ OLED display panels with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to a new report from ETNews, citing supply chain sources.
The report said LTPO+ OLED panels are expected to be more energy efficient than current LTPO displays. The technology would also allow Apple to place the infrared scanner used for Face ID behind the display.
Possible Shift to Under-Display Sensors
People familiar with the matter told ETNews that Apple may also move the front-facing selfie camera under the display without reducing image quality. If implemented, this would further reduce visible components on the front of the device.
Supply Chain Changes for Pro Models
The report said the adoption of LTPO+ OLED panels would likely remove BOE from Apple’s supply chain for the Pro models, as only LG and Samsung currently can manufacture LTPO+ OLED displays.
BOE may continue supplying display panels for non-Pro iPhone models, according to the report.
MacBook Pro Also Mentioned
ETNews also reported that Apple plans to use LTPO+ OLED panels in its redesigned MacBook Pro with the upcoming M6 chip. Apple has not commented on the report.
