Sialkot’s incoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise has finally made its identity official, with OZ Developers announcing “Sialkot Stallionz” as the team name ahead of PSL 11.
The owners of the new franchise, set to enter the league alongside a Hyderabad team, shared the branding decision through their official social media, confirming months of speculation around what the Sialkot side would be called.
The name is widely seen as a tribute to the legendary Sialkot Stallions, the domestic T20 powerhouse that dominated Pakistan’s circuit during the 2000s. The original Stallions were known for an era-defining run, including a record-setting winning streak and multiple titles.

The Sialkot franchise was secured by Hamza Majeed of OZ Developers, who won the bid at Rs. 1.85 billion per year, reportedly making it the most expensive PSL team so far.
Speaking at his first media interaction after purchasing the franchise, Hamza stressed that the team’s selection strategy would be strictly performance-based.
He said the franchise would first target the best available Pakistani talent and then look toward Australian players, adding that coaching options from Australia may also be explored if top-tier local coaching staff are not available.
Hamza also addressed concerns about Sialkot potentially missing out on its traditional home ground during PSL matches, similar to how some other franchises have played away from their cities.
He said the revival of Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, would be a key priority shared by both the franchise and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Until that is resolved, he indicated that Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, would serve as Sialkot’s secondary home venue.
