Punjab Police has drafted a plan to charge fees for providing security at private programs, according to official sources.
Proposals regarding the security fee have been sent to IG Punjab, under which police security will no longer be provided free of cost for private events.
In 2025, Lahore Police arranged security for over 14,000 events, including private, cultural, and protest gatherings.
The proposed system would establish a formal fee collection mechanism applicable to wedding halls, concerts, protest rallies, and other events. Funds collected would be used to improve police welfare and facilities.
Once approved by the Punjab government, a formal notification will be issued. Lahore Police stated that introducing the fee will help make the security system more efficient and sustainable.
