Federal Govt Announces Public Holiday

The federal government has declared February 5, 2026, a public holiday across Pakistan to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, according to a press release issued by the Cabinet Division.

The notification states that all public and private offices will remain closed nationwide. The government has also announced that a one minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am across the country to pay tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs.

Separately, the Sindh government has also issued its own notification declaring a public holiday on the same day. The Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department confirmed that all government offices, autonomous and semi autonomous bodies, local councils, and corporations under provincial control will remain closed, except essential services.

The Sindh notification further directed institutions to observe the one minute silence at 10:00 am in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually to express Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir and to reaffirm their right to self determination. Public events, seminars, and special programs are usually held across the country to mark the occasion.
