CPI General inflation increased by 5.8 percent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in January 2026, up from 5.6 percent in the previous month and 2.4 percent in January 2025, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, it rose by 0.4 percent in January 2026, compared with a decrease of 0.4 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.2 percent in January 2025.
CPI Urban inflation remained stable at 5.8 percent YoY in January 2026, unchanged from the previous month, and compared with an increase of 2.7 percent in January 2025. On a MoM basis, it increased by 0.2 percent in January 2026, compared with a decrease of 0.4 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.2 percent in January 2025.
CPI Rural inflation increased by 5.8 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with an increase of 5.4 percent in the previous month and 1.9 percent in January 2025. It rose by 0.6 percent MoM in January 2026, compared with a decrease of 0.6 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.2 percent in January 2025.
SPI inflation increased by 3.3 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with an increase of 2.5 percent in the previous month and 0.7 percent in January 2025. It remained in negative territory at -0.8 percent MoM in both January 2026 and December 2025, compared with a decrease of 1.4 percent in January 2025.
WPI inflation increased by 0.2 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with an increase of 0.6 percent in the previous month and 0.6 percent in January 2025.
It declined by 0.2 percent MoM in January 2026, compared with a decrease of 0.9 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.2 percent in January 2025.
Core inflation measured by non-food, non-energy Urban CPI increased by 7.2 percent on a year-on-year basis in January 2026, compared with 6.9 percent in the previous month and 7.8 percent in January 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it increased by 1.0 percent in January 2026, compared with 0.5 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.8 percent in January 2025.
Core inflation measured by non-food, non-energy Rural CPI increased by 8.3 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with 8.1 percent in the previous month and 10.4 percent in January 2025. It increased by 1.1 percent MoM in January 2026, compared with 0.6 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.9 percent in January 2025.
Core inflation measured by the 20 percent weighted trimmed mean for Urban areas increased by 4.9 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with 5.5 percent in the previous month and 5.4 percent in January 2025. It increased by 0.5 percent MoM in January 2026, compared with an increase of 0.3 percent a month earlier and 0.6 percent in January 2025.
Core inflation measured by the 20 percent weighted trimmed mean for Rural areas increased by 5.4 percent YoY in January 2026, compared with 6.0 percent in the previous month and 5.4 percent in January 2025. It increased by 0.7 percent MoM in January 2026, compared with an increase of 0.4 percent in the previous month and 0.7 percent in January 2025.
