Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a gang involved in luring and selling Pakistani citizens to criminal networks in Cambodia, officials confirmed.
According to the FIA deputy director, the six-member group included two suspects based in Cambodia, while four operated from Pakistan, targeting young people through fake overseas job advertisements.
The suspects reportedly posted social media ads offering call center jobs in Cambodia, attracting educated youth with computer skills. Victims who contacted the group were sent abroad after paying agents, where they were allegedly detained and forced into online scamming operations.
Officials said individuals who refused to work were subjected to violence and intimidation. Each victim reportedly generated around $2,000 in payments for the network.
Authorities revealed that the group had already sent more than 100 Pakistanis to Cambodia before being uncovered. Investigations are ongoing to trace additional members and rescue affected individuals.
