Islamabad United has disclosed how much it has committed to keep its core players on board ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season.
According to the figures shared, United retained captain Shadab Khan for Rs. 7.0 crore in Platinum category, while Andries Gous was kept for Rs. 1.4 crore in the Silver category and fast bowler Salman Irshad for Rs. 1.2 crore in the Gold category.
The three-time PSL champions had already confirmed its retained players list earlier this week ahead of the PSL 11 players’ auction on February 11. Under the revamped rules, franchises could retain only four players total, and crucially, those retentions had to be spread across categories.
In earlier editions, teams could hold onto as many as eight players, a cushion that allowed sides to preserve most of their established core. That safety net is now gone.
PSL 11 will also be remembered for another major change: the league is expanding from six to eight teams.
Two new franchises, Hyderabad and Sialkot Stallionz, are set to debut this season, adding more competition to the auction floor and raising the stakes for every established team trying to keep its balance.
The Hyderabad franchise was acquired by Fawad Sarwar after a winning bid of Rs 1.75 billion, while Hamza Majeed secured Sialkot Stallionz with a top bid of Rs 1.85 billion.
For fans, the countdown is now straightforward, auction day will reveal whether United’s early spending and category choices set them up as early contenders or leave them exposed in the new, more ruthless marketplace.
The PSL 11 season begins on March 26 and will run until May 3.
