The Punjab government has issued a fresh notification announcing public holidays in the province on February 6 and 7, 2026, in connection with Basant celebrations.
According to the notification dated February 3, 2026, issued by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing), Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7, will be observed as public holidays across Punjab.
The holidays will apply to government offices, departments, and institutions operating under the provincial government. The notification directs that the decision be given wide publicity through national and regional English and Urdu newspapers, as well as electronic media.

Separately, February 5 will be observed as a public holiday in Punjab on account of Kashmir Day, which is marked annually to express solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
With the inclusion of Kashmir Day and the Basant-related holidays, government offices in Punjab will remain closed for three consecutive days from February 5 to February 7.
Earlier, the Punjab government had announced that Basant celebrations would take place in Lahore under strict regulations after an 18-year hiatus. The newly issued notification formalizes the public holidays linked to the festival.
