Kite Flying Banned in Nine Areas of Lahore During Basant

The Lahore district administration has restricted kite flying in specific areas of the city during the upcoming Basant festival due to aviation safety concerns.

In an addendum notification issued on January 30, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Lahore said kite flying will not be allowed in neighborhoods located along the aircraft approach and take off paths of Allama Iqbal International Airport from February 6 to February 8, 2026.

According to the notification, kite flying has been banned in areas falling under the aircraft landing approach, including Nadirabad, Gulshan Ali Colony, Nishat Colony, Bhatta Chowk, and DHA Lahore Blocks R, S and Q.

The restriction also applies to areas located along aircraft take off paths. These include Al Faisal Town, Jorraypul, Canal Bank Road adjacent to Tajpura, and Tajpura.
