Oman has introduced mandatory premarital medical screening for couples planning to marry.
The move aims to detect hereditary blood disorders and infectious diseases at an early stage. It also focuses on providing medical counselling before marriage.
The announcement came from the Oman Ministry of Health. The ministry said the policy will help limit the spread of genetic and communicable diseases. At the same time, it seeks to prevent avoidable health conditions in children.
Moreover, officials said the measure will reduce long-term social, psychological, and financial pressure on families. Early diagnosis and awareness, they added, can support healthier family planning decisions.
In a public awareness notice, the ministry urged Omani citizens planning to marry to complete the required medical examination. The directive also applies to individuals from abroad who intend to marry Omani nationals.
Couples must undergo the screening at government health institutions or at private medical facilities licensed by the Ministry of Health.
The ministry made the requirement clear. A marriage contract will not be finalised unless both partners complete the mandatory premarital medical screening.

atleast Oman is doing something good for its citizens unlike the nunni league and their masters in boots.
