Pakistan Hockey Team Left Stranded on Australia Tour

Pakistan hockey has been plunged into crisis during the national team’s tour of Australia, with players left stranded and facing serious logistical problems due to alleged mismanagement by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

After arriving in Sydney, members of the Pakistan national team were forced to roam the streets for nearly 11 hours because of poor travel planning.

The situation further worsened in Hobart, where the team was denied accommodation after the PHF failed to clear a hotel payment demand of Rs. 150 million.

According to officials, the payment issue arose due to a lack of funds from the Pakistan Sports Board. As a result, the players were left without proper lodging during an overseas tour.

The team has since been shifted to a low-standard guest house, raising serious concerns over player welfare. The episode has intensified criticism of the PHF’s administration and highlighted the worsening condition of Pakistan’s national sport.

The Pakistan national hockey team had traveled to Australia via Bangkok to take part in the second phase of the FIH Pro League. The second phase of the tournament is scheduled to be held in Hobart, where Pakistan are set to face Australia and Germany.

The ongoing difficulties have raised broader questions about planning, governance, and accountability, as the team continues its international commitments under challenging conditions.
