Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a new uniform for the Lahore Traffic Police, marking a visible change in the city’s traffic enforcement setup.
According to reports, following the chief minister’s approval, traffic wardens in Lahore will begin wearing the new uniform from February 14. In the first phase, the uniform change will apply only to Lahore.
As per the official notification, the second phase will see the new traffic police uniform introduced in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, and Rawalpindi districts. In the third and final phase, the uniform will be rolled out across other districts of Punjab.
The notification also states that electric patrolling vehicles will be introduced and linked with the Safe Cities Authority. Officials say the use of electric vehicles will help save millions of rupees in fuel costs, while also supporting environmentally friendly policing measures.
