The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has announced that the hunting season in the province will begin on February 15, with strict conditions in place.
According to the department, hunting of waterfowl will remain open until March 15 and will be allowed only on Saturdays and Sundays. Authorities have made it mandatory for hunters to possess a valid shooting license, which carries a fee of Rs. 6,000.
Each licensed hunter may hunt up to five birds per day. The department has strictly banned the use of MP3 players and other electronic devices for hunting. Officials warned that anyone found violating the rules will face action under the relevant wildlife laws.
In addition, authorities have imposed a complete ban on hunting in selected areas of Lower and Upper Chitral. Several ecologically sensitive locations, including Shandur Lake, Broghil, and Tor Khos, have been declared protected zones where hunting is not permitted under any circumstances.
The Wildlife Department urged hunters to strictly follow all government directives to ensure the protection of wildlife and natural habitats during the season.
