Peshawar Zalmi have officially appointed Ottis Gibson, former West Indies head coach, as their Head Coach for the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season.
While former Pakistani cricketer and coach Azhar Mehmood has been signed on as Assistant Coach and Bowling Coach for PSL 11.
The franchise announced the appointment on social media, describing Gibson as a battle-hardened leader with a champion’s mindset. Zalmi said the experienced coach brings clarity, strength, and purpose to the team as they prepare for the new season.
In an official statement, Peshawar Zalmi said they were proud to make the appointment, highlighting Gibson’s leadership qualities and vast coaching experience. The franchise added that his arrival further strengthens the team’s journey ahead of PSL 11.
Gibson brings extensive international coaching experience to the role. A former West Indies international fast bowler, he transitioned into coaching following his retirement and has since held senior positions across international cricket.
He previously served as Head Coach of the West Indies men’s team, guiding them to victory at the ICC World T20 in 2012. Gibson has also worked as bowling coach for England in two separate stints and later took on coaching roles with South Africa and Bangladesh.
The Barbados-born coach is not new to the Pakistan Super League. He worked as assistant and fast-bowling coach for Multan Sultans during PSL 7 in 2022, where he was part of the coaching setup under Andy Flower.
The appointment marks Gibson’s first role as a head coach in the PSL and signals a new chapter for Peshawar Zalmi as they prepare for the upcoming season.
