The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated legal proceedings against multiple hotels located on Islamabad Club Road over illegal encroachments on green areas, the National Assembly was informed. Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi shared the details in a written reply to a question raised by MNA Sher Afzal Khan.
According to the minister, a total of 10 hotels and motels situated on Islamabad Club Road/Murree Road had developed illegal parking areas on the green belt within the right of way of the road. These constructions were termed encroachments on public land designated as green area.
The minister stated that the illegal parking areas were demolished on August 6, 2024, with the assistance of the CDA’s Enforcement Directorate. He added that challans for the construction of illegal parking and encroachment areas had been filed in the Court of Senior Special Magistrate, CDA, for legal action against the hotels and motels under relevant rules.
Responding to a query regarding delay in action, the minister informed the House that repeated operations are being conducted to physically remove encroachments. He further stated that legal proceedings have been initiated and are currently pending before the Senior Special Magistrate, CDA.
