Private schools in Karachi and other parts of Sindh have begun collecting June and July tuition fees months ahead of schedule, despite clear instructions from the provincial education department and the Directorate of Private Schools prohibiting advance recovery.
According to parents, a majority of private institutions issued fee vouchers for the summer vacation months in February and March. Several schools also demanded annual charges alongside the advance summer fees.
Some parents alleged that students who fail to submit the vouchers face warnings of being barred from attending classes. The Directorate of Private Schools has termed the advance collection of June and July fees illegal and a violation of official directives.
Authorities have reiterated that schools must strictly follow government instructions regarding fee schedules. Parents have expressed concern over the growing financial pressure, particularly as Ramadan and Eid approach, when household expenses typically increase.
Parents state that paying two months’ tuition at once, in addition to annual fees, has become difficult amid rising inflation. Many families have urged the provincial government to take action against institutions that continue to ignore official orders and to ensure relief for parents facing financial strain.
