The Punjab government has formally launched the process of connecting public hospitals to the Safe City surveillance network to enhance security and real-time monitoring across healthcare facilities.
In the first phase, ten major government hospitals in Lahore have already been integrated into the modern surveillance system, while more than 35 hospitals across Punjab have joined the Safe City network so far.
According to Safe City officials, major hospitals, including Ganga Ram Hospital, Lady Aitchison Hospital, General Hospital, Mian Munshi Hospital, and Nawaz Sharif Hospital, are now connected to the system.
Public hospitals in Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala are also being added in phases.
Under the initiative, authorities have installed advanced cameras at emergency wards, indoor and outdoor departments, as well as hospital entry and exit points to ensure continuous monitoring.
Officials say the system will enable real-time surveillance and rapid response during emergencies.
The government aims to improve safety for patients, attendants, and medical staff while ensuring immediate police response in case of any untoward incident.
In the next phases, the Punjab government plans to link all public hospitals in the province with the Smart Safe City system to further strengthen healthcare security and management.
